Lol it’s been a year already

Time really goes by so fast wahahha

Not much happened for the month of October. I tried doing Inktober again for this year, but I only got to day 10 before I drop out of the challenge wahahahah can’t have it affecting my day work >w>);;;;;;

I couldn’t decide what theme I should do for this year: Granblue or OC. Last time I did the challenge, I used our RP Group as the theme.

“Why not do both?” -myself, sleep deprived.

“Sounds like a great plan!!!” – myself again, still sleep deprived.

So here are the 20 pieces for 10 days worth of Inktober:

GRANBLUE INKTOBER

[OC] Idol Trio: Nao INKTOBER

I really had fun doing all these LOL

Although, maybe I would have survived all 31 days if I didn’t decided to overkill myself by doing two themes for inktober HAHAHAH, oh well, will try again next time!

Story time!

Once upon a time, we had a continuous power outage in my area. For three days, the power would be down from 8AM to 6PM, sometimes even longer. It wasn’t much of a problem at work–we have a backup generator. But the third day happens to be Saturday… and my day off.

My phone’s battery was 5%, the weather was uncomfortably hot, and the urged to just draw and draw pushed me to grab my laptop, drawing tablet, and wallet and head out for the mall.

Now our mall isn’t too big, but it has a lot of places where you can just sit and chill. There’s also a quaint cafe that has its own wifi and outlet. So what else to do but buy a cup of matcha frappe, plop down to the most secluded seat available and stay there for 10 hours straight.

Not one of my most proudest achievement in life, but it certainly gave me a really interesting day. Seeing various people come and go, talking to their friends, while there’s me who’s just trying really hard to not scrap my 10th sketch for the past 3 hours and so.

Eventually, 20 mins before I left the cafe:

I ate, went home, sleep, woke up, then resumed work the day after that.

Then I realized, “Might as well draw my son to match.”

Several weeks later, and here he is.

So, yeah.

I’d like to express my thanks to that cafe for allowing me to stay for 10 hours straight LOL. With how broke I am, I made it my mission to sip only at my drink every 30 mins. And once that ran out, I resorted to their free water LOL (granted, I also ate their very delicious pasta but golly that was sorta expensive HAHAHA)

And thus, I end my tale with the lesson: If the power outage is longer than 2 hours, chill at a nearby cafe.

redrawing an old oc

Her name is Yuuki. Other than that, I still haven’t rewritten any backstory/info for her. Maybe someday lol

So… Hiii, been stuck on an art block lately after my last drawing so I thought “maybe I should fix one of my old characters” would help.

I’m still feeling the wall but to be able to draw something at least is better than nothing.

There’s like… four things I still need to draw on my list and I hope I can start on the weekend if not tomorrow.

I drew my oc coz why not

eyyy son got new clothes lol

So, I’ve been busy for the past three weeks because… I finally have a job!

It’s been real scary and exciting after hibernating for like a year lol, and the need to adapt back into society quickly really made me second guess if I’m doing the right thing.

But so far, all is well. Day offs are now viewed as golden days for me again and the thought of being financially capable is comforting. That’s one big worry out of the way.

Real-life stories aside, I haven’t been drawing much due to fatigue, but I didn’t expect to have so much fun messing around with this particular head shot. I rarely–if not never–used most of Sai’s features(?) to be honest so I’m really late at discovering things like layers and filters. However, as they always say, the second best time to do something is today!

And here’s what I did for like… another 30 minutes after the first image.

“Oooh!” – me, earlier

I still have several left to draw, but for now I’ll take it easy and enjoy the rest of my day off lol

mini artworks & WIPs

here’s what I’ve got so far, or at least, for this month.

I got a new (not brand new, but it’s still a gigantic step up from my old one) laptop thanks to my big sis, so I’ve done the first thing that came to my mind: draw.

Looks ok on laptop, but the color changes on mobile lol
vyrn_icon
felt like changing my twitter icon so i drew Vyrn.

And now for the remaining two:

WIP
my current “project” that won’t hopefully take a whole year to complete…maybe.

This particular WIP is my favorite so far, and the one that has most of my motivation invested on. I wanted to make a new banner for my social media accounts so I decided to draw the games that I’ve been recently playing: Fire Emblem Heroes (FEH), Closers, Granblue Fantasy (GBF), and Dragon Nest respectively.

except FEH is missing.

I haven’t decided who to draw on FEH yet, probably because I’m not too invested on the game since I only started playing this month. But we’ll see.

I’m particularly proud with the GBF one even though it’s not finished yet. I’ve been experimenting with colors–or at least trying to practice, and this piece is my guinea pig.

WIP2
how to color theory help

I don’t know how to determine whether this is “enough” or not, lol. I can’t even line the other two since I’m too focused on trying to finish this one first.

WIP3
why are they so many;;;;;

So, I visited my old home a few days ago and I found this old drawing from 2009. It’s kinda funny that I still remember some of their names hahaha. I wanted to redraw them so I’ve been doing it one character at a time.

Well, that’s pretty much it. It’s not a lot, but it’s something. LOL.

Will update again when I finished the wips, or make new ones hahaha

lol been on art slump

sorry

The Journey challenge lasted for only like… a month? HAHAHA
It was a sad attempt, but an attempt nonetheless, and I’m still glad I was able to draw on a daily basis–despite how short it has been.

I learned how to be “burned out” in a hard way.  And the lack of proper planning for the challenge had an effect too.

I also noticed that I ended up procrastinating until it’s like… 30 mins left till the day is over LOL.
So lesson learned:
>Plan properly if it’s something that’s gonna take a whole year.
>Add more rest days. One day isn’t really enough.
>Set a consistent schedule to do the challenge to establish a solid routine.

Another good thing that came out of the challenge is that I noticed how “pale” my coloring is.

It’s something I’ve been trying to change nowadays, but overall, I haven’t done a “finished” artwork… okay, so there’s actually two, but I can’t post one of them yet due to personal reasons hahaha

So yeah, tl;dr – Been on an art block for a long while, so random experiments on coloring are all I’ve done lol

Current status of Journey

Hey there! So I haven’t been actually posing the last 2 entries here for reasons (I’m actually more active on Twitter tbh, so it’s my first place to post stuff). But I’ll get around to posting them next week along with the others!

So, actually, from today until the 20th, I won’t have access to my PC so I can’t do my Journey entries _(:3 」∠)_

Gonna travel a bit in 2 days and by Thursday, I’ll be going back home for real and (as sis put it) will be resuming my life because I’ve been in a limbo for a long while now.

So after nephew’s bday, I’ll go back home and find a job. Gotta contribute to society. (Or at least fund my skyfaring ways lel//no)

I’ll be able to resume the Journey at that time, so yeah.

On a side note:

My other self-indulgement GBF Flower-themed project: Garden.

It’s half of Feb, and I still haven’t done any sketch for it. Can’t even decide “who” from the list HAHAHA so I’m questioning now if I should still make an attempt to do this project🤔

Plans for 2019

Hey it’s 2019! Here’s to a brand new year!

Half of January already went by, and so far I’ve managed to complete two drawings, “Almond” and “C.A.R.I.N.”

Almond is a special one since I started it by the end of 2018 and finished it at the beginning of 2019. I see it as a bridge, connecting my past works to the new ones that I’ll eventually make hahaha!

C.A.R.I.N. is more of a milestone for me because all I’ve ever gifted my sister whenever her birthday comes around were nerdy stuff like Pokemon sketches. So I’m really glad to actually able to give her a gift that portrays her and not me lol

2019 projects!

So here are a few things I’m considering to do for the whole year, art-wise:

  • “Garden” – A Flower Project for Granblue Fantasy (A self-indulgement art compilation featuring all of my favorite GBF characters and what their corresponding flowers might be)
  • “Isda” – A 30 days challenge of just drawing fish. (Will do this on April)
  • “Journey” – A ‘draw something different each day’ week thing (February)
    • Monday: Food and Beverages
    • Tuesday: Clouds/Sky
    • Wednesday: Fashion
    • Thursday: Landscape/Background
    • Friday: Objects
    •  Saturday&Sunday: Fullbody

Note: I’m still thinking whether to switch between Digital and Traditional every week/2weeks/month or just pure digital arts lol

Journey will be my most ambitious 2019 goal. Second is Garden.

All of these will require a great deal of patience, diligence, and discipline. Things that I would like to learn and incorporate into my lifestyle. So here’s to me making a wager and hopefully succeed by the end of the year!

What else do I plan to do for this year?

Well, learning Japanese!

I started 11 days ago via Duolingo, and it’s been going smoothly so far (since it’s only the beginning hahaha).

And then training myself to exercise! Since I’m getting tired of feeling ‘old’ and ‘unhealthy’, I want to at least start working out by the 2nd half of February. Jogging, pushup, and situps… diet??? nope, but maybe cutting down on the junk foods hahahha

And let’s not forget the most important goal aside from everything I’ve mentioned above…

I need to get a job hahaha!

Anyway, here’s wishing for everyone’s 2019 to be a year where everything works out in the end, no matter the bumps we’ll be encountering! Fight on!
